Health and Nutrition
Healthy children are ready to learn!
To make sure that our program is a safe and healthy environment for all children, families, and staff, parents are asked to provide documentation of their child’s regular well child visits. Preventative care is important for young children and is something that staff will talk about with families frequently.
Healthy teeth are something to smile about! To help children develop good oral health habits, we provide opportunities for toothbrushing during our program. Each year, children also have the opportunity to see dental care providers from our community during the class day.
Are you looking for a dentist? Our Family Service Staff will help your family locate dental care that works for your family.
Each year, Family Services Staff will conduct vision and hearing screenings and chart the growth of children. Results from our screenings will be provided to families to share with their child’s primary care provider.
Children with chronic medical conditions are welcome at SCCDC. Staff will work with families to develop an Individual Health Care Plan to ensure that your child is safe through out the day. If your child requires medication during the day, our facilities are approved to administer medication. Staff will work with you to complete the necessary paperwork.
Meals and Snacks
Infants and toddlers in our center programs are fed on demand. Staff will work with parents to establish a plan that best suits their child. SCCDC provides USDA approved formula and iron fortified infant cereals.
SCCDC participates in the USDA Child and Adult Food Program (CACFP) and our meals meet their nutritional requirements.
